Massage Therapy in Asheville, N.C. With a 360° Approach?

Better Muscle Function Vs. A Band-aid Approach. The goal of my massage style is to help you feel and move better. The 360 approach is to work to get your muscles function better, vs. only offering a band-aid solution for the spot that expresses symptoms.

Each Body Is Unique, Shouldn't Your Massage Be Too?Bodies may be similar, but no two bodies are the same. In your first session we will take some time to talk about your chronic pain patterns and check your mobility. We will find out which areas are your main priority and ensure that they get the attention they need. I never follow a routine, each person gets individualized attention.

Muscle "Cliques": Muscles Are Never Sole Operators.

Muscles are never sole operators. When a muscle is giving off pain signals, chances are there is a partner in crime. Muscles that hurt are usually tight from having being over worked, which doesn't happen for no reason. If only the over worked muscle is addressed, then the pain comes back as soon as you go out into the world, because the muscles causing the other one to work hard, are still tight.

Usually if there is shoulder pain, the sides of the neck and chest are tight, which cause tug-of-war between your shoulders and your front body. Usually if there is low back pain, the quads or front of the thighs, and your side body is tight and making the low back muscles work too hard. When you come in for a session, I address your problem areas in groups to ensure longer lasting relief.

Working In Layers: Muscles Are Only Part of The Equation

Your connective tissue wraps each individual muscle like plastic wrap. If the muscle is massaged, but the connective tissue is not addressed, your muscle can not relax. If the connective tissue is massaged, but the deeper layers of muscle still have "knots" in them, then your muscle can't fully relax.

I use myofascial release to help release the connective tissue before working on a muscle, so that the muscle will be more likely to release fully.

Patience is Key With Tight, Stuck Muscles.

Tissues release at different speeds for everyone, so I take my time in the areas that need it instead of trying to rush to finish the whole body. It's better to have the areas where you are having trouble get deep attention than to have a full body surface level massage.

Because the 360 approach works on muscle groups, layers, and takes the time needed in an area, it is recommended that those with only one area of complaint have a 60 minute session, those with multiple areas of complaint that are close together have a 90 minute session, and those with multiple areas of chronic pain in different areas of their body have a two hour session.

If the pain is relatively new, you may experience relief in one session. For longer term chronic pain patterns, it is recommended that you have 3 sessions close together (about a week or two apart) to begin with.

Longer Lasting More Effective Bodywork for You.

My sessions have been rated 5 stars on Yelp, Google, and Facebook. They are highly beneficial to people with chronic tension, repetitive motion injuries, and those who train hard and need help improving their mobility and muscle function. I am located in Asheville N.C.
